Roman Calendar March – There are a variety of holiday celebrations that occur in February. There are numerous holidays can be enjoyed in February, including Valentine’s Day (President), Groundhog Day (Groundhog Day) meteor showers (Mesotor Showers). In addition, there are a myriad of ancient Roman celebrations that occur at different times of the year.
February 14th
Valentine’s Day celebrates love and love every February 14. The Middle Ages are the time when Valentine’s Day was first celebrated. This was the period when courtly love and ceremonies were still popular.
It was a celebration of romance between lovers in the 14th century. It was customary to give Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and other gifts to one another.
The early nineteenth century saw the advent commercial cards. The demand for postcards that were printed in bulk was also increasing. These cards were then displayed in shops as themed displays.
Valentine’s Day is traditionally marked by giving your loved one a gift of chocolate or candy, along with flowers or a card. You can also give them jewelry.

A belief system among Pennsylvanians Dutch people led to the celebration. The American tradition of creating forecasts for weather was introduced to America through German immigration. Punxsutawney Phil Groundhog, a groundhog from Pennsylvania is a meteorological forecaster for the rest of the winter.
The practice was first introduced when scientists discovered an animal that was hibernating in the winter. The goal was to predict the coming six weeks of the season based on observations of how the animals responded.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae group of small hairy mammals. In the winter months, their principal objective is to hibernate. On the morning of Groundhog Day, they are often seen peeking out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents Daylight (third Monday of February) is a national holiday. The holiday honors to the previous American presidents. It is a day which celebrates the two presidents, Lincoln, Washington, and it has been Presidents’ Day since its inception.
Although it’s a federal holiday however, many states do not observe it. Some states honor the birthdays of both presidents on the same day, but other states only recognize only one. Presidents’ Day, however, is now generally recognized as a chance to celebrate all U.S. presidents, especially Lincoln.
It has a long story. Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the celebration. Today the Presidents’ Day holiday is the official name.
Washington’s birthday also known as Washington’s Day is a well-known unofficial holiday. In the 1870s however it was declared an official holiday recognized by the federal government. Congress passed the Uniform Monday Day Holiday Act.
Meteor storms
Every year, Earth moves around the sun. Every year, small meteors are released into space. They can appear almost anywhere in the sky. Certain showers are more spectacular then others. The best time for viewing them is at night.
Perseids is among the most beautiful and impressive meteor showers of 2018. This is because Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was the primary cause. It will be seen from the Northern Hemisphere, but as the Southern Hemisphere has some of the highest fireball rates, it is also worthwhile to look up from there.
Each year , there are four important meteor showers. The Quadrantid one is well-known for its explosive but short peak. The Lyrid Another one is known for its distinctive surges. Geminids are a Geminid is well-known for its approachable.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia was among the most popular holidays of ancient Rome. In the middle of February there was a cleansing and fertility ceremony was celebrated. During the ceremony, priests offered animal sacrifices to an altar near the Lapis Niiger. The hearth was filled up with blood of the animal. The protection and fertility of blood is believed to have been beneficial to the grain field.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration in honor of Ceres, the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to 202 BC.
Neptunalia was among the other well-known Roman festivities. These celebrations were originally held in honor of Mars, a god of war.
Roman workweeks lasted eight days. Each day had two parts: morning and afternoon. Nundins were collections of eight days, and the other 29 days made up the remainder of the year.
