Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity

The Lupercalia festival was extremely loved in ancient Rome. The cleansing and fertility ceremony took place in the middle of February. During this rite it was a time when priests offered sacrifices to animals on the altar alongside the Lapis Naiger. The hearth was cleansed of the blood of the animal.
