Presidents Daylight (third Monday in February) is a national holiday. It pays tribute past American presidents. Presidents’ Day has traditionally been a day to pay tribute to both Washington and Lincoln.
It’s a national holiday that not all states observe even though it is one. Although some states honor both the presidents birthdays on the same day, other states only recognize one. But Presidents’ Day is widely recognized as an opportunity to recognize all U.S. presidentials, particularly Lincoln.
The background of Presidents’ Day is a bit tangled. Washington’s Birthday was the first name of this celebration.
Washington’s Birthday, commonly known as Washington’s Day, is an non-official holiday, but it is well-known. In the late 1870s, it became a federal holiday. In reaction, Congress passed Uniform Monday Holiday Law.
Meteor storms

The Lupercalia was among the most popular holidays of the past of Rome. A fertility and cleansing ceremony was held in mid February. Priests offered animal sacrifices at an altar close to the Lapis Niger during the ritual. The hearth was cleansed with the blood of the animal. It was believed that the hearth could provide fertile soil and protect the grain fields.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Ludi Ceriales celebrations were first recorded in the year 202 BC.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were only a few of the well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were initially held in honor of Mars the god of war.
Roman workweeks took eight days. There were two portions to each day: morning and the afternoon. A nundin was 8 days long, and the 29 days remaining were the rest.
