It was a holiday that honored love between romantic partners and close friends during the 14th century. Valentine’s Day was a day where it was commonplace for lovers and friends to exchange gifts, flowers and cards.
Commercial cards were introduced by the early nineteenth century. The demand for postcards printed in bulk was also growing. These themed displays were displayed in retail stores.

The most well-known holiday in the United States was the birthday of President Washington, also called Washington’s Day. It was officially recognized as a federal holiday in the late 1870s. In the end, Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
Meteors and storms
