February 14th
Valentine’s Day is an annual holiday that celebrates love, passion and is observed on February 14. The origins of the holiday can be traced back to the Middle Ages when courtly love and sacraments were well-known.
It was celebrated the romance between romantic friends and lovers in the fourteenth century. In the 14th century, on Valentine’s Day, it was customary to send cards, flowers and presents to each other.
Commercial cards were made available in the first quarter of the nineteenth century. Popularity grew with the popularity of printed postcards in large quantities. These cards were popularized in shops as themed displays.
Gifting your special someone a chocolate or candy present, along with a card or flower is a classic Valentine’s Day tradition. You can also present jewelry.

Groundhog Day is observed annually on February 2. Although it is a popular holiday in Canada, Thanksgiving is a American holiday.
The idea for this celebration came out of a belief in superstition that was prevalent among Pennsylvanians who spoke Dutch. The tradition of forecasting weather was introduced in the United States by German immigrants. PunxsutawneyPhil is a Pennsylvania groundhog, makes meteorological predictions throughout the winter.
This custom originated from an observation by scientists that mouse hibernates in winter. The plan was to forecast the following six weeks of season using observations about how the animals responded.
The Sciuridae family of tiny hairy mammals also includes groundhogs. They hibernate in winter. Groundhog Day is a common day on which they are observed peering out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
On the third Monday of February the President’s Daylight is declared a national holiday. The holiday honors the previous American presidents. The Presidents’ Day holiday was typically a day of celebration to honor Lincoln as well as Washington.
Although it’s a national holiday however, many states do not observe it. Some states recognize the presidents of both countries, while others are only allowed to recognize only one. While Presidents’ Day is now a common thing however, it is a good opportunity to honor the names of all U.S. presidents and especially Lincoln.
The history of Presidents’ Day is complex. Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the celebration. Today, Presidents’ day is the official name.
Washington’s birthday, often referred to by the title Washington’s Day was a well-known not-official holiday. In the 1870s however it became an official holiday recognized by the federal government. Congress passed the Uniform Monday Day Holiday Act.
Storms of meteors
Each year, Earth’s orbit rotates around the sun. A stream of tiny meteors explodes into space. In the sky, they can be seen all over the sky. Certain showers are more spectacular then others. The best time to view them is in the evening.
One of the largest and most stunning meteor showers of the year is the Perseids. It is because of the comet 109P/Swift Tuttle. It’s visible only from the Northern Hemisphere. However, since the Southern Hemisphere has the highest fireball rates, it’s worthwhile looking from there.
There are four meteor showers that dominate the sky each year. The Quadrantid is the most prominent due to its power but brief maximum. The Lyrid, another, is famous for its unique surges. Furthermore the Geminid is known for its sexy appearance.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia was an ancient Roman festival that was adored by many. A fertility and cleansing ceremony was held in February, in the middle. Priests offered sacrifices of animals near the altar of the Lapis Negiger in this ceremony. The animal’s blood was dumped in the hearth. The grain fields were thought to benefit from its protection and fertility.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to honor Ceres (the goddess of harvest). Since the year 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were only a few of the most well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally held in honor of Mars the god of war.
The Roman workweek was 8 days long. There were two phases to every day: the morning part as well as the evening. The nundin lasted 8 days. The remainder of the year was made up by the remaining days.
