Presidents Daylight (third Monday in February) is a federal holiday. It’s a tribute to all previous American presidents. Presidents’ Day has historically served as a day to honor both Washington and Lincoln.
Although it’s a federal holiday however, many states do not observe it. Some states celebrate both the birthdays of the presidents on the day, while some states might only celebrate one. The Presidents’ Day holiday is now widely recognized as a means of honoring the achievements of all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
The background of Presidents’ Day is complex. Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the day’s celebration. Today Presidents’ Day is the official title.
Washington’s birthday also known by the name Washington’s Day was a well-known nonofficial holiday. It was recognized as a national holiday by Congress in the late 1870s. This led to Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.

Vestalia, Saturnalia, and Neptunalia were among the popular Roman celebrations. They were initially held to honor Mars, the god of war.Vestalia, according to some academics is the most popular among the three.
