February 14th
Valentine’s Day is an annual holiday that celebrates love, affection and celebration on February 14th. The Middle Ages are the time when Valentine’s Day first observed. It was a time when courtly love as well as the sacraments still were commonplace.
It was considered to be an occasion to celebrate love between romantic partners and friends in the 14th century. Valentine’s Day was the day to exchange gifts, flowers, and cards.
In the early 19th century commercial cards were already made. The demand for postcards that were printed in bulk was also growing. They were also very popular in shops as they were able to be displayed in themes.
Valentine’s Day is traditionally marked by giving your loved ones the gift of chocolate or candy, along with flowers or a card. You may also choose to present them with jewelry.

Groundhog Day, which is celebrated every February 2 and is an annual holiday. Although it is also well-liked in Canada The Thanksgiving holiday is an American holiday.
The tradition was conceived of as a superstition in the minds of Pennsylvanians Dutch immigrants. German immigrants brought the tradition of weather forecasts into the United States. Punxsutawney Phil is a Pennsylvania groundhog who makes forecasts for the rest of winter.
The practice was first introduced after scientists discovered an animal that was hibernating in the winter. The initial idea was to forecast six weeks of the seasons by watching how animals reacted to the conditions.
Groundhogs form part of the Sciuridae family of small hairy mammals. They hibernate in winter. Groundhog Day is a common day on which they are observed peering out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday of February is Presidents’ Daylight. It is considered a national holiday. It is a tribute to the presidents who have gone before us. The Presidents Day holiday been a day of honor for both Lincoln and Washington.
Although it’s a federal holiday many states don’t observe it. Some states celebrate both the birthdays of the presidents on the same day . Other states may only recognize only one. The Presidents’ Day holiday is widely regarded as a day to honor all U.S. presidentials, particularly Lincoln.
The origins of the Presidents’ Day holiday is complex. Washington’s Birthday was the original name of the celebration that is now referred to as Presidents Day.
Washington’s birthday, more commonly called Washington’s Day is a well-known not-official holiday. However, in the 1870s it became an official holiday recognized by the federal government. In response, Congress passed Uniform Monday Holiday Law.
Meteor showers
Each year, Earth rotates around its sun. Small meteors are released into the atmosphere. They can be observed all over the sky. Certain showers are more stunning than others. It is best to view the showers in the evening.
Perseids is among the most spectacular and stunning meteor showers of 2018. This is because Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was the cause of it. It will be visible from the Northern Hemisphere, but as the Southern Hemisphere has some of the highest rates of fireballs It is also worthwhile to observe from there.
There are four major meteor Showers every year. The Quadrantid is the first due to its power but short maximum. Another is the Lyrid, which is known for its unique surges. In addition, the Geminid is known for its approachable appearance.
Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was a Roman festival, which was loved by many. A ritual of cleansing and fertility was held in mid February. In the course of the ceremony, priests offered animal sacrifices on an altar close to the Lapis Niiger. The animal’s blood was dumped into the hearth. It was believed that the hearth would provide fertility and security for the fields of grain.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to pay tribute to Ceres (the harvest goddess). Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to 202 BC.
Other popular Roman celebrations include Neptunalia, Saturnalia and Vestalia. These celebrations were originally meant to celebrate Mars the god of war.
Roman workweeks ran for eight days. There were two portions to each day: morning and afternoon. A nundin was eight days long, and the 29 days remaining were the rest.
