Washington’s Birthday, also known as Washington’s Day, is an non-official holiday, but it is well-known. It was officially recognized as a federal holiday in the late 1870s. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was enacted by Congress.

Storms of meteors

The Lupercalia festival was extremely loved in ancient Rome. In the middle of February, a fertility and cleansing ceremony was celebrated. Priests offered sacrifices to animals at an altar near the Lapis Niger in the ceremony. The hearth was saturated with the animal’s blood. The belief was that this would be beneficial to the crop by increasing fertility and securing the crops from damage.

Ludi Ceriales was another celebration in honor of Ceres the goddess of harvest. Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to the year 202 BC.

Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were just a few of the well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were initially held to honor Mars the god of war.

Roman workweeks had eight days. There were two parts to every day: morning and afternoon. The nundin was a collection of eight days, and the remaining 29 days comprised the rest of the year.
