February 14th
Valentine’s Day celebrates love and love every February 14. It is believed to date back as far as the Middle Ages, when love was more prevalent than courtly and sacramental.

Groundhog Day is observed annually on February 2. It is also celebrated in Canada but it is American Thanksgiving.
This celebration was born from a belief system that was popular in the minds of Pennsylvanians Dutch-speaking people. The American custom of making forecasts for weather was introduced to America with German immigrants. Punxsutawney Philip is one of the Pennsylvania groundhog, gives meteorological forecasts for the remainder of the winter.
Scientists discovered that a mouse hibernated during winter. It was designed to predict the next six weeks by studying how animals respond to weather conditions.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae group of hairy mammals. They hibernate in winter. Groundhog Day is a common time when they can be looking out from their burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday in February is the Presidents’ Daylight. It is recognized as a national holiday. It is an honor to all previous American presidents. The Presidents Day holiday been a day of honor for both Lincoln and Washington.
While it is an official holiday, not all states observe this day. Some states honor both presidents simultaneously, whereas some only honor one president. The Presidents’ Day holiday is now widely recognized as a means of honoring the achievements of all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
It has a long background. Washington’s Birthday is the original name for this holiday.
Washington’s birthday is well-known as an not officially recognized holiday, as well as Washington’s Day. In the 1870s however it was declared a federally recognized holiday. This led to Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.

Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was a Roman festival, which was loved by many. In February, in the middle the fertility and cleansing ceremony was held. Priests offered animal sacrifices on an altar close to the Lapis Niger during the ritual. The animal’s blood was dumped into the hearth. The grain fields were thought to benefit from its protection and fertility.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to 202 BC.
Vestalia, Saturnalia, and Neptunalia were a few other famous Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally meant to honor Mars the god of war.
Roman working weeks were eight days long. There were two phases of each day: the morning part as well as the evening. A nundin was a collection of 8 days. The remaining 29 days comprised the rest of the year.
