February 14th
Valentine’s Day, a day that celebrates love and passion, is observed annually on February 14. It can be traced back as far as the Middle Ages, when love was more common than sacramental and courtly.
It was a day to celebrate romance between lovers in the 14th century. It was customary to give Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and other gifts to one another.
The beginning of the nineteenth century saw the advent of commercial cards. The popularity of these cards grew due to the increasing demand of printing postcards in bulk. These cards were a hit in stores as displays of themed designs.
Valentine’s Day traditions include buying your beloved a chocolate or chocolate gift along with a card or flower. You could also choose to present them with jewelry.

Groundhog Day falls on February 2. It’s also a very popular holiday in Canada However, Thanksgiving is an American holiday.
This celebration was born out of a belief in superstition that was prevalent among Pennsylvanians who spoke Dutch. German immigrants brought the practice of forecasting weather to the United States. Punxsutawney Phil is a groundhog native to Pennsylvania is a meteorological forecaster throughout the winter.
The practice was first introduced after scientists discovered a mouse that hibernated during winter. The idea was to predict the next six weeks of the season based on observations of the way that animals reacted.
Groundhogs belong to of the Sciuridae Family of small hairy mammals. It hibernates during winter. Groundhog Day is the most regular day they can be in view from their burrows.
Christmas Day
On the third Monday in February President’s Daylight is declared a national holiday. It pays tribute past American presidents. In the past, Presidents Day been a day of honor for both Lincoln and Washington.
Even though it is a federal holiday many states don’t observe it. Certain states honor both presidents simultaneously, while some only honor one president. However, Presidents’ Day is widely recognized as a day to honor the achievements of all U.S. presidentials, particularly Lincoln.
Presidents Day has had a tangled past. Washington’s Birthday was the original name of the event. Today, it is Presidents’ Day.
Washington’s Birthday, also known as Washington’s Day, is an non-official holiday, but it is well-known. In the 1870s however it was declared a federally recognized holiday. Congress adopted the Uniform Monday holiday Act.
Meteor storms
Each year, Earth rotates around its sun. Small meteors are released into the atmosphere. They can be observed all over the sky. Certain showers are more stunning than others. It is generally recommended to watch the showers at night.
Perseids is one of most spectacular and stunning meteor showers of 2018. This is because Comet 109P/SwiftTuttle is the culprit. While it’s visible in the Northern Hemisphere because of its high rate of fireworks however, the Southern Hemisphere also has the best visibility.
Each year there are four major meteor showers. Number one is the Quadrantid. Its brief but massive peak is what makes it the most well-known. The Lyrid, another, is known for its distinctive surges. The Geminid is known for its casual appearance.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia was an ancient Roman festival, which was loved by many. A cleansing and fertility ceremony was observed in February. Priests offered sacrifices of animals at the altar for the Lapis Nuiger during the ceremony. The hearth was filled with blood of the animal. It was thought that the hearth would offer fertility and security for the fields of grain.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration, was celebrated in honor of Ceres, the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations date back to 202 BC.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were just a few of the well-known Roman celebrations. These were originally held to honor Mars, the god of war.Vestalia, according to some experts is the most popular of the three.
Roman working weeks lasted for eight days. There were two portions to each day: morning and afternoon. A nundin was a collection of eight days. the remaining 29 days comprised the rest of the year.
