March 2023 Lego Calendar – There are many fun holidays for February. Some of them are observed all through the year. Examples of these holidays include Valentine’s Day or Groundhog Day, Presidents’ Day, Groundhog Day or meteor showers. Many Roman celebrations also take place on different days.
February 14th
Valentine’s Day (February 14th) is a day to celebrate love and passion. It is celebrated each year. It is believed to date to as early as the Middle Ages, when love was more common than sacramental and courtly.
It was a day to celebrate romantic love during the 14th century. It was common to send Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and other gifts to one another.
By the beginning of the 19th century commercial cards were already produced. The popularity of postcards that were printed in bulk was also increasing. They were popular in stores as themed displays.
Valentine’s Day is a tradition that usually includes the gift of candy or chocolate and the gift of a card and flowers. You can also present them with jewelry.

Groundhog Day falls on February 2. Even though it’s a big deal in Canada but Thanksgiving is an American holiday.
The tradition was born out of the belief in superstition of Pennsylvanians and Dutch people. However, Americans gained the tradition of making weather predictions through German immigrants. PunxsutawneyPhil, a Pennsylvania groundhog who makes meteorological predictions throughout the winter.
When scientists discovered that mice hibernate in winter, they set the foundation for this custom. The initial idea was to predict six weeks of each season by studying how animals responded to climate.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae family of tiny, hairy mammals. They hibernate during the winter months. Groundhog Day’s morning and evening, they’re often visible peeking out of burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday in February is known as Presidents’ Daylight. It is an official holiday for the United States of America. It’s a tribute to all past American presidents. It was a time to honour both Lincoln and Washington.
It’s a federal holiday which not all states observe even though it is one. Some states recognize both presidents, whereas others are only allowed to recognize one president. But, Presidents’ Day is now widely recognized as a means of honoring the achievements of all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
There’s a rich history behind Presidents Day. The Washington’s Birthday was the first title of the holiday that is now referred to as Presidents’ Day.
The most well-known holiday in the United States was the birthday of Washington, which is often referred to as Washington’s Day. In the 1870s, however, it became an official holiday recognized by the federal government. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was enacted by Congress.
Meteor storms
Each year, Earth rotates around its sun. Small meteors are released into the atmosphere. They are visible almost everywhere in the skies. Some showers are more spectacular than others. The best time to view.
Perseids is one of most spectacular and stunning meteor showers in 2018. This is due to the fact that the comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was the cause. It will be visible from the Northern Hemisphere, but as the Southern Hemisphere has some of the most intense fireballs and astrophysical activity, it’s also worth to observe from there.
Four significant meteor showers occur every year. The Quadrantid is the most prominent because of its powerful but brief maximum. The other is the Lyrid. It’s famous for its odd surges. A Geminid is well-known for being friendly.
Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was among the most well-liked holidays in ancient Rome. In the middle of February, a fertility and cleansing ceremony was held. Priests offered animal sacrifices near the altar of the Lapis Negiger during this ritual. Blood from the animal was poured in the hearth. The belief was that this would benefit the crop by increasing fertility and securing the crops from damage.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to honor Ceres (the goddess of the harvest). Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to 202 BC.
Neptunalia and Saturnalia were two other well-known Roman festivals. These celebrations were originally intended to celebrate Mars and the god of war.
Roman workweeks were 8 days long. There were two periods to every day: the morning and the afternoon. Nundins were collections of eight days, and the other 29 days made up the rest of the year.
