February 14th

Superstition among Pennsylvanians Dutch people contributed to the celebration. German immigrants brought the practice of making weather predictions to the United States. PunxsutawneyPhil is a Pennsylvania groundhog, makes forecasts for meteorological conditions throughout the winter.
This custom was born out of a discovery by scientists that a mouse hibernated during winter. The plan was to forecast the next six weeks of winter by watching how the animals responded to conditions.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae, a small family of hairy mammals. It hibernates in winter. The morning of Groundhog Day is when they can be observed peeking out of burrows.

Presidents’ Daylight is regarded as a national holiday observed on the third Monday of February. It is a tribute to the previous presidents of America. Presidents’ Day is typically a day of celebration to honor Lincoln and Washington.
Although it is an official holiday of the United States, not all states observe the holiday in all states. Certain states observe both birthdays of presidents on the exact day, while some states only honor one. But, Presidents’ Day is now widely recognized as a means of honoring all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
There is a complicated history of Presidents Day. Washington’s Birthday was the name used for the day of celebration. It is now also known as Presidents Day.
Washington’s birthday, more commonly called Washington’s Day is a well-known not-official holiday. In the latter half of 1870s it became a national holiday. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was enacted by Congress.
Meteors and storms
Every year, Earth moves around the sun. Every year, tiny meteors are released into space. They are visible in the sky and can appear everywhere. Some showers can be more spectacular than others. It is best to view the showers at night.
The Perseids meteor shower is among the most stunning and largest of all the meteor showers. This is because Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle caused it. It is visible from the Northern Hemisphere. But, because the Southern Hemisphere is home to some of the most impressive fireballs, it is logical to observe the phenomenon from there.
Four significant meteor showers occur each year. The Quadrantid one is well-known for its potent but brief peak. Another notable for its unique surges is The Lyrid. The Geminid is also renowned for its likable appearance.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia was a Roman festival, which was loved by many. In February, a fertility-cleansing ceremony was conducted. In this ceremony it was a time when priests offered sacrifices to animals on the altar next to the Lapis Naiger. The animal’s blood was dumped into the hearth. The fertility and protection of the blood is believed to have been beneficial to the grain fields.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to pay tribute to Ceres (the harvest goddess). Since the year 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations have been recorded.
Neptunalia and Saturnalia were two other well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally held to honor Mars the god of war.
Roman working weeks lasted for eight days. There were two periods of every day: morning and afternoon. Nundin was a collection consisting of eight days. The remaining 29 days made up the remainder of the calendar year.
