Groundhog Day occurs annually on February 2. It’s also a well-known holiday in Canada However, Thanksgiving is an American holiday celebrated in the United States.
The celebration was born out of superstition among Pennsylvanians Dutch immigrants. The custom of making weather predictions originated in the United States with German immigration. Punxsutawney Philip is one of the Pennsylvania groundhog, offers meteorological forecasts for the remainder of the winter.
The idea for this custom was born out of the discovery of scientists by discovering that mice hibernate in winter. It was designed to predict the six weeks ahead by studying the way animals react to weather conditions.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae family of tiny hairy mammals. They are winter animals and their main job is to stay in hibernation. In the early morning hours of Groundhog Day, they are often seen peeking out from their burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday in February is Presidents’ Daylight. It is considered a national holiday. It’s an honor to all former American presidents. The Presidents Day holiday been a time to honor both Lincoln and Washington.
Although it is a federal holiday , not every state observes this holiday. Certain states honor both presidents, whereas others only recognize only one. But, Presidents’ Day is now widely recognized as a way to recognize all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
There’s a rich history of Presidents Day. Washington’s Birthday was originally the name of the celebration. The day is now known as Presidents’ Day.
Washington’s Birthday, also known as Washington’s Day, is an non-official holiday, but it is well-known. In the latter half of 1870s it became a federal holiday. Congress approved the Uniform Monday Day Holiday Act.
Meteors and storms

Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia is one of the most well-known holidays of ancient Rome. A cleansing and fertility ceremony was held in mid February. At this time, priests offered animal sacrifices on an altar beside the Lapis Naiger. The hearth was filled with the animal’s blood. The belief was that this would benefit grains by ensuring their fertility and also protecting the plants from harm.
