Groundhog Day occurs annually on February 2. Even though it is popular in Canada the Thanksgiving holiday is an American holiday.
The idea for this celebration came from a belief system that was popular that was prevalent among Pennsylvanians Dutch-speaking people. The tradition of forecasting weather was brought in America by German immigrants. PunxsutawneyPhil, a Pennsylvania groundhog that makes forecasts for winter weather throughout the year.
The custom got its start after scientists discovered an animal that was hibernating during winter. The initial idea was to forecast six weeks of the seasons by observing how animals responded to weather.
The Sciuridae family of tiny, hairy mammals includes groundhogs. In winter, their main job is to go into hibernation. On Groundhog Day is when they can be visible peeking out of burrows.

On the third Monday in February, President’s Daylight is recognized as an official holiday of the United States. It is an honor to all past American presidents. The Presidents’ Day was typically a day of celebration to honor Lincoln and Washington.
While it’s a federal holiday but not every state observes it. While some states recognize both the presidents’ birthdays on the same day as others while other states only honor one. Presidents Day has become a day to honor the all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
The story of Presidents’ Day is a bit tangled. Washington’s Birthday was originally the name of the event. The day is now known as Presidents’ Day.
Washington’s birthday, more commonly known as Washington’s Day is a well-known not-official holiday. It was recognized as a federal holiday by Congress in the late 1870s. In the aftermath, Congress passed Uniform Monday Holiday Law.
Meteor storms
Each year, Earth rotates around its sun. Small meteors are released into the atmosphere. They are visible from anywhere in the sky. Certain showers are more spectacular then others. The best moment to view.

There are four major meteor showers every year. The first is Quadrantid. Its short , but powerful maximum is what is most famous. Another is the Lyrid. It’s famous for the odd surges it produces. Furthermore, the Geminid is famous for its sexy appearance.
Roman holidays in antiquity
The Lupercalia was one of the most loved holidays in ancient Rome. The month of February was when a fertility-cleansing ceremony was conducted. Priests offered animal sacrifices on the altar to the Lapis Nuiger at the time of the ceremony. The hearth was filled with the animal’s blood. It was believed that it would benefit the crop by increasing fertility and securing the plants from harm.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to celebrate Ceres (the goddess of the harvest). Ludi Ceriales celebrations date back to 202 BC.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were only a few of the well-known Roman celebrations. These were originally held to honour Mars god of war.Vestalia According to certain experts is the most popular of the three.
