The third Monday in February is the Presidents’ Daylight. It is considered a national holiday. The holiday honors past American presidents. In the past, Presidents Day been a day of honor for both Lincoln and Washington.
Although it’s a federal holiday , not every state observes this holiday. Some states recognize the presidents of both countries, while others are only allowed to recognize one president. The Presidents Day holiday is an occasion to celebrate all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
The history of Presidents’ Day is complicated. Washington’s Birthday is the original name for this holiday.
Washington’s birthday also known as Washington’s Day was a well-known non-official holiday. But it became a recognized as a federal holiday in the 1870s. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was approved by Congress.
Meteor showers
Each year each year, the Earth passes through its orbit around the sun, which causes an explosion of tiny meteors to be released into space. They are visible from anywhere in the sky. Some showers are more stunning than others. It is ideal to see the showers in the evening.

Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia celebration was very popular in ancient Rome. A cleansing and fertility ceremony took place in February, in the middle. Priests offered sacrifices of animals near the altar of Lapis Negiger during this ritual. The hearth was filled with blood of the animal. The grain fields were thought to benefit from its protection and fertility.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Since the year 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations were recorded.
Other popular Roman festivities are Neptunalia, Saturnalia and Vestalia. These celebrations were originally held in honor of Mars, the godof war.
Roman workweeks ran for eight days. There were two parts of each day: morning and afternoon. A nundin was 8 days long, while the 29 days remaining were the rest of the days.
