February 14th
Valentine’s Day is a day that is devoted to love and romance which is celebrated every the 14th of February every year. The holiday’s beginnings can be traced to the Middle Ages, a time where courtly love and sacraments were all the rage.
It was regarded as an occasion to celebrate romance between romantic partners and friends in the 14th century. Valentine’s Day was the day to give each other flowers, gifts, and even cards.
Commercial cards were introduced by the early nineteenth century. The popularity of postcards printed in bulk also grew. These cards were popularized in retail stores as displays with themes.
Valentine’s Day is traditionally marked by gifting your loved ones the gift of candy or chocolate and flowers or a card. You may also choose to give them jewelry.
February 2nd.
Groundhog Day occurs annually on February 2. It is also celebrated in Canada however it’s American Thanksgiving.

The third Monday of February is the Presidents’ Daylight. It is recognized as a national holiday. It’s an honor to all past American presidents. It has been a day to honor both Lincoln and Washington.
Although it is an official holiday, not all states observe this day. Some states honor both birthdays of the presidents on the exact day, while some states might only celebrate only one. Presidents Day has become an occasion to celebrate all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
Presidents’ Day has a convoluted history. The Washington’s Birthday was the first name of the celebration that is now referred to as Presidents Day.
Washington’s birthday, also known by the name Washington’s Day was a well-known not-official holiday. In the 1870s however it became an official holiday recognized by the federal government. Congress passed the Uniform Monday Day Holiday Act.
Meteor showers
Each year it is observed that the Earth is orbiting around the sun. This results in a flood of small meteors that are released into space. On the horizon, they can appear everywhere. Some showers are more impressive than others. Nighttime is the best moment to see them.
One of the largest and most stunning meteor showers of the year is the Perseids. This is due to the comet 109P/Swift Tuttle. It is visible from the Northern Hemisphere, but as the Southern Hemisphere has some of the highest fireball rates and astrophysical activity, it’s also worth to see from that region.
Four major meteor showers take place each year. The Quadrantid 1 is well-known for its potent but brief peak. Another one is the Lyrid. It’s famous for its odd surges. Furthermore, the Geminid is renowned for its sexy appearance.
Roman holidays dating to antiquity
The Lupercalia celebration was very popular in ancient Rome. A ritual of cleansing and fertility was held in mid February. Priests offered animal sacrifices on the altar to the Lapis Nuiger during the ceremony. The hearth was filled with the animal’s blood. The grain fields were believed to be protected and fertility.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to celebrate Ceres (the goddess of harvest). Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to 202 BC.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were just a few of the well-known Roman celebrations. The celebrations were originally celebrated to honor Mars, the godof war.
The Roman workweek was 8 days long. Each day was divided into two sections: morning and the afternoon. A nundin was a collection of 8 days. The remaining 29 days were the remainder of the year.
