February 14th

It was a day to celebrate romantic love in the 14th century. On Valentine’s Day, it was customary to send cards, flowers and other gifts to each other.
In the early years of the nineteenth century commercial cards were readily available. The popularity of postcards that were printed in bulk was also growing. They were popular in shops as displays of themed designs.

Groundhog Day falls on February 2. It’s also a well-known holiday in Canada, but Thanksgiving is an American holiday celebrated in the United States.
This celebration was born of beliefs that were derived from Pennsylvanians and Dutch people. The American tradition of making weather forecasts was brought to America through German immigrants. Punxsutawney Phil, a groundhog from Pennsylvania provides meteorological predictions for the remainder of winter.
This custom was born out of an observation by scientists that a mouse hibernated during winter. The original plan was to forecast six weeks of the seasons by watching how animals responded to the weather.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae, a small family of mammals with hairy fur. They hibernate throughout winter. Groundhog Day is the most frequent day that they are seen looking out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents Daylight that falls on the third Monday of February, is considered to be a national holiday. It is an honor to all former American presidents. In the past, Presidents Day been a time of honor for both Lincoln and Washington.
It’s a national holiday that not all states observe despite being one. While some states recognize both the presidents birthdays on the same day as others, other states only recognize one. Presidents Day is now commonly recognized as a chance to recognize the achievements of all U.S. presidents, especially Lincoln.
Presidents Day has had a tangled past. Washington’s Birthday was the first title of the celebration.
Washington’s Birthday, also known as Washington’s Day, is an non-official holiday, but it is well-known. It was declared a federal holiday in late 1870s. Congress approved the Uniform Monday Day Holiday Act.
Meteor showers
Each year, Earth rotates around its sun. Small meteors are released into the atmosphere. They are visible everywhere in the sky. Some showers seem more impressive than others. Nighttime is typically the best time to watch.
Perseids is one of most stunning and spectacular meteor showers of the year 2018. This is because Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was responsible. Although it is visible in the Northern Hemisphere because of its massive fireworks However, the Southern Hemisphere also has the highest visibility.
Every year there are four important meteor showers. Number one is the Quadrantid. Its short but massive peak is what makes it the most well-known. Another is the Lyrid which is famous for its unique surges. In addition, the Geminid is renowned for its approachable appearance.
Roman holidays dating to antiquity
The Lupercalia was a Roman festival, which was loved by many. In the middle of February the fertility and cleansing ceremony was conducted. The priests offered sacrifices of animals to an altar close to the Lapis Niiger. Blood from the animal was poured into the hearth. The fields of grain were believed to benefit from its protection and fertility.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to pay tribute to Ceres (the harvest goddess). Ludi Ceriales celebrations date back to the year 202 BC.
Vestalia, Saturnalia, and Neptunalia were three other well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were initially held to honor Mars the god of war.
Roman workweeks took eight days. Each day was divided into two parts: the morning, and the afternoon. The nundin was eight days long, while the remaining 29 days were called the rest.
