February 14th

Groundhog Day is observed annually on February 2. Although it is a popular holiday in Canada, Thanksgiving is a American holiday.
The tradition was born out of the belief in superstition of Pennsylvanians and Dutch people. The American tradition of creating forecasts for weather was introduced to America through German immigration. PunxsutawneyPhil is a Pennsylvania groundhog, makes meteorological predictions for all of the winter.
The tradition was born out of a discovery by scientists that mouse hibernates during winter. The aim was to predict the weather conditions for the remaining six weeks, by observing how animals respond to it.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae family of tiny hairy mammals. They are winter animals and their main function is to hibernate. In the early morning hours of Groundhog Day, they are often seen looking out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents Daylight (third Monday of February) is a national holiday. It’s a tribute to all past American presidents. The Presidents Day holiday been a time to honor both Lincoln and Washington.
While it’s a federal holiday however, not all states observe the holiday in all states. While some states celebrate both the presidents birthdays on the exact same day as others, other states only recognize one. However, Presidents’ Day is widely recognized as an opportunity to recognize all U.S. presidentials, particularly Lincoln.
The background of Presidents’ Day is complicated. Washington’s Birthday was the initial name of the celebration that is now referred to as Presidents Day.
An unofficial holiday that is well-known was the birthday of Washington, which is often called Washington’s Day. It was officially recognized as a federal holiday in the late 1870s. Congress passed the Uniform Monday holiday Act.
Meteors hurling storms
Every year, Earth rotates around its sun. Small meteors are released into the atmosphere. They are visible almost everywhere in the sky. Certain showers are more stunning than others. The best time to view them is at night.
One of the biggest and most spectacular meteor showers in the world is the Perseids. This is because Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle is to blame. It’s visible only from the Northern Hemisphere. However, due to the fact that the Southern Hemisphere has the highest fireball rates, it’s worth taking a look from that.
There are four major meteor showers each year. The Quadrantid is number one because of its powerful but brief maximum. Another one is the Lyrid that is renowned for its unusual surges. The Geminid is also famous for its likable appearance.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia is one of the most well-known holidays of the ancient city of Rome. A fertility and cleansing ceremony took place in the middle of February. In this ceremony, priests offered animal sacrifices on the altar next to the Lapis Naiger. The hearth was then cleansed of the blood of the animal. It was believed that it would benefit crop by increasing fertility and also protecting them.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to 202 BC.
Vestalia, Saturnalia, and Neptunalia were a few other well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally intended to pay tribute to Mars and the god of war.
Roman working weeks had eight days. Every day was divided into two parts: morning or the afternoon. The nundin was a collection of eight days, while the remaining 29 days made up the remainder of the year.
