It’s a federal holiday that not all states observe, despite it being one. Some states honor the birthdays of both presidents on the same day, but other states only recognize one. Presidents Day is now commonly celebrated as a time to celebrate all U.S. presidents, especially Lincoln.

The history of Presidents’ Day is a bit tangled. Washington’s Birthday is the original name of this celebration.

Washington’s birthday also called Washington’s Day is a well-known unofficial holiday. In the latter half of 1870s it became a national holiday. Congress approved the Uniform Monday holiday Act.

Meteor showers

Each year, the Earth is orbiting in the solar system. This triggers a rush of tiny meteors to be released into space. In the sky, they can appear all over the sky. Some showers are more impressive than others. It is generally recommended to watch the showers in the evening.

There are four meteor showers that dominate the sky every year. The Quadrantid Number one is known for its brief but potent maximum. Another famous for its strange surges is the Lyrid. The Geminid is known for its sexy appearance.

Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity

The Lupercalia was a major celebration in the ancient city of Rome. A ritual of cleansing and fertility took place in the middle of February. Priests offered sacrifices to animals at an altar near the Lapis Niger in the ceremony. The hearth was cleansed with the blood of the animal. It was thought that the hearth would provide fertility and security for the grain fields.

Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was held in honour of Ceres, the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to the year 202 BC.

Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were just a few of the most well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally planned to honor Mars, the god war.

The Roman workweek was 8 days long. There were two periods to each day: morning and the afternoon. A nundin was 8 days long. The 29 remaining days were the remainder.
