Groundhogs are part the Sciuridae Family of small hairy mammals. It hibernates in winter. Groundhog Day is a common time when they can be seen peering out from their burrows.

The third Monday of February President’s Daylight is declared a national holiday. It is a day to pay tribute to the past American presidents. In the past, Presidents Day served as a day of celebration for both Lincoln and Washington.
Although it’s a federal holiday some states do not observe it. Some states recognize the presidents of both countries, while others are only allowed to recognize only one. The Presidents Day holiday is a day to honor the all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.

Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
