January To March Calendar – Many enjoyable holidays are planned for February, and they are all observed throughout the month. Some of the most popular holidays are President’s Day. Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day and meteor showers. There are also several ancient Roman celebrations that take place on various days.
February 14th
Valentine’s Day celebrates love and passion every February 14. The holiday’s beginnings can be traced to the Middle Ages, a time where sacraments and courtly love were widespread.
It was believed to be a day of celebration that celebrated romance between romantic partners and close friends from the 14th century. Valentine’s Day was a day where it was commonplace for lovers and friends to give gifts, flowers and cards.
Commercial cards were introduced from the beginning of the 19th century. Additionally, postcards produced in large quantities gained a lot of popularity. Themed displays of these postcards were displayed in retail stores.
Purchasing your special someone an item of chocolate or candy, along with flowers or a card, is a traditional Valentine’s Day tradition. You might also consider giving them jewelry.

Groundhog Day is celebrated annually on February 2. It’s also popular in Canada however it’s an American Thanksgiving.
The tradition was born out of superstition in the minds of Pennsylvanians Dutch immigrants. The custom of forecasting weather came to the United States with German immigration. Punxsutawney Phil Groundhog, a groundhog from Pennsylvania is a meteorological forecaster for the rest of the winter.
It all started when scientists found an animal that was hibernating during the winter. The plan was to forecast the next six weeks of the season using observations about how the animals responded.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae, a small family of mammals with hairy fur. In winter, their primary function is to hibernate. Groundhog Day is a common day on which they are observed peering out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
On the third Monday in February President’s Daylight is declared an official holiday of the United States. It is a tribute to the past presidents of America. It was a time to pay tribute to both Lincoln and Washington.
Even though it is a federal holiday many states don’t observe it. Some states celebrate the birthdays of both presidents on the same day, while other states only recognize only one president. The Presidents Day holiday is a day to honor the all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
It has had a complicated background. Washington’s Birthday was the first name given to the day of celebration. Today, it’s also known as Presidents Day.
Washington’s birthday, more commonly referred to as Washington’s Day, is an unofficial holiday that is well-known. It was declared a national holiday by Congress in the 1870s. This led to Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
Meteor storms
Each year, the Earth’s orbit rotates around the sun. A torrent of small meteors are released into space. They can be seen everywhere in the sky. Some showers are more impressive than others. Nighttime is the best time to watch.
One of the biggest and most magnificent meteor showers that occurs throughout the year is the Perseids. This is due to the fact that Comet 109P/SwiftTuttle is the culprit. It will be visible from Northern Hemisphere. But, because the Southern Hemisphere is home to some of the most impressive fireworks, it is only natural to be able to observe the phenomenon from that region.
There are four meteor showers that dominate the sky each year. The Quadrantid, number 1, is well-known for its potent but short peak. Another one is the Lyrid. It’s known for its odd surges. A Geminid is well-known for its accessible.
Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was an ancient Roman festival, which was loved by many. A cleansing and fertility ceremony was held in February, in the middle. Priests offered animal sacrifices at an altar close to the Lapis Niger in the ceremony. The hearth was then emptied of the blood of the animal. It was believed that it would benefit the crop by increasing fertility and also protecting them.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration in honor Ceres, the harvest goddess. Since 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations have been recorded.
Neptunalia was one of the most well-known Roman festivities. These celebrations were initially held to honor Mars the god of war.
Roman workweeks were eight days long. There were two portions to every day: the morning and afternoon. Nundins were collections of eight days, and the other 29 days comprised the rest of the year.
