The idea for this custom was born out of an observation by scientists that a mouse hibernated during winter. The idea was to predict the next six weeks of the season by studying how animals responded to the weather.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae group of tiny, hairy mammals. It hibernates during winter. On Groundhog Day is when they can be seen peeking out of the burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents Daylight (third Monday of February) is a federal holiday. It celebrates the previous American presidents. It is a holiday that honors both Lincoln, Washington, and it has been Presidents Since the day it was first introduced.
While it is a federal holiday, many states do not observe it. Some states honor both birthdays of the presidents on the exact same day while other states only honor only one. Presidents’ Day, however, is now generally celebrated as a time to honor the achievements of all U.S. presidents, especially Lincoln.
The story of Presidents’ Day is complex. Washington’s Birthday was the first name of the holiday. Today, Presidents’ day is the official name.
The most well-known holiday in the United States was the birthday of President Washington, also referred to as Washington’s Day. It was declared an official holiday of the United States in the late 1870s. This led to Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
Storms of Meteors
Each year, the Earth passes through its circle around the sun creating a torrent of small meteors to explode into space. They can be observed all over the sky. Some showers are more stunning then others. The best time to watch.
Perseids are among the most spectacular and stunning meteor showers that occur throughout the year. This is due to the comet 109P/Swift Tuttle. There are four major meteor showers every year. The Quadrantid Number one is renowned for its brief but powerful maximum. Another notable for its unique surges is The Lyrid. Geminids are a Geminid is well-known for its approachable.
Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was a Roman festival that was adored by many. A fertility and cleansing ceremony was held in mid February. In this ceremony, priests offered animal sacrifices on an altar beside the Lapis Naiger. The hearth was emptied of blood from the animal. The belief was that it would be beneficial for fertility and protection of the grain fields.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration, was celebrated in honor of Ceres, the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to 202 BC.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were only a few of the well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were initially held in honor of Mars the god of war.
Roman working weeks were eight days long. Every day consisted of two sections: morning and the afternoon. A nundin was 8 days long, while the 29 remaining days were the rest of the days.
