It has had a complex story. Washington’s Birthday used to be the name used for the holiday. Now, it is called Presidents Day.

Meteor storms

Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia was an ancient Roman holiday that was loved by many. A fertility and cleansing ceremony was performed in February. In the course of the ceremony, priests offered animal sacrifices on an altar near the Lapis Niiger. The hearth was then cleansed of the blood of the animal. It was believed that the hearth would offer fertility and security for the fields of grain.
Ludi Ceriales is another celebration which was celebrated to honor Ceres the goddess of harvest. Ludi Ceriales celebrations were first documented in the year 202 BC.
Other popular Roman festivities include Neptunalia, Saturnalia and Vestalia. They were held originally in honor of Mars, the god of war.Vestalia, according to some academics was the most popular among the three.
Roman workweeks were eight days long. Each day had two parts: the morning or afternoon. Nundin was a collection of 8 days. The remaining 29 days made up the rest of the year.
