The tradition was born out of superstition among Pennsylvanians Dutch immigrants. German immigrants brought the practice of making weather predictions into the United States. Punxsutawney Phil is a Pennsylvania groundhog who makes forecasts for the rest of winter.
The idea for this custom originated from the discovery of scientists by discovering that mice hibernate in winter. The plan was to forecast the following six weeks of season based on observations of how animals responded.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae group of small hairy mammals. They hibernate during winter. Groundhog Day is a common day on which they are seen peering out from their burrows.
Christmas Day
On the third Monday of February President’s Daylight is recognized as a national holiday. It is a way to honor the presidents who have gone before us. Presidents’ Day has traditionally served as a day to pay tribute to both Washington and Lincoln.
Although it’s a federal holiday several states do not observe it. While some states recognize both the presidents birthdays on the same day while other states only honor one. The Presidents Day holiday is an opportunity to remember the all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
The story of Presidents’ Day is complicated. The Washington’s Birthday was the first name of the holiday. Today Presidents’ Day is the official name.
Washington’s birthday also known by the name Washington’s Day was a well-known nonofficial holiday. It was declared a national holiday by Congress in the latter 1870s. Congress approved the Uniform Monday holiday Act.
Storms of Meteors
Each year, Earth rotates around its sun. Small meteors are released into the atmosphere. They can be observed all over the sky. Some showers are more spectacular than others. The best time to watch.

Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia was one of the most popular holidays of the past of Rome. A fertility and cleansing ceremony was observed in February. Priests offered animal sacrifices near the altar of Lapis Negiger during the ceremony. The hearth was cleansed of the animal’s blood. It was believed that it would benefit the grain crops by ensuring fertility and also protecting the crops from damage.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was held to honor of Ceres the goddess of harvest. Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented as far back as the year 202 BC.
