Valentine’s Day celebrates love and passion every February 14. It can be traced back as far as the Middle Ages, when love was more popular than courtly and sacramental.
It was considered a celebration which honored the love between romantic partners as well as close friends during the 14th century. It was customary to give Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and gifts to one another.
The first decade of the 19th century saw the advent of commercial cards. Postcards printed in bulk also became popular. These cards were popularized in stores as displays with themes.
Valentine’s Day traditions include buying your special someone a candy or chocolate gift along with a card or flower. You might also decide to present them with jewellery.

Groundhog Day is observed annually on February 2. It is also celebrated in Canada however it’s American Thanksgiving.
This celebration was born from superstition among Pennsylvanians who spoke Dutch. However, Americans gained the custom of predicting weather forecasts through German immigrants. Punxsutawney Phil, a groundhog from Pennsylvania, makes meteorological predictions for the rest of the winter.
When scientists discovered that mice hibernated in winter, they laid the basis for this practice. The plan was to forecast the following six weeks of the season by observing how animals responded to climate.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae family of tiny, hairy mammals. In winter, their main objective is to go into hibernation. Groundhog Day is a common day on which they are seen peering out from their burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents’ Daylight is regarded as an American holiday that falls on the third Monday in February. It is a day to pay tribute to the past American presidents. The Presidents’ Day was traditionally a day to honor Lincoln and Washington.
Despite being an official holiday of the United States however, not all states observe the holiday in all states. Certain states honor both presidents, while others are only allowed to recognize one president. But Presidents’ Day is widely regarded as a time to celebrate all U.S. presidentials, particularly Lincoln.
It has had a complicated story. Washington’s Birthday was the first reason for the name for this holiday.
Washington’s birthday is well-known as an unofficial holidaythat is also known as Washington’s Day. It was made a federal holiday in late 1870s. Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Day Holiday Act.
Meteor storms
Each year, Earth moves around the sun. Every year, small meteors fall into space. They are visible in all directions. Some showers can be more striking than others. Nighttime is the best moment to see them.
One of the biggest and most spectacular meteor showers of the year is the Perseids. It is because Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was the primary cause. While it’s visible in the Northern Hemisphere because of its large number of fireballs, the Southern Hemisphere also has the highest visibility.
Every year, there are four important meteor showers. The Quadrantid is the most prominent due to its strong but short maximum. Another one is the Lyrid, which is known for its unusual surges. The Geminid is also famous for its friendly appearance.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia was a popular festival in ancient Rome. In the middle of February the fertility and cleansing ceremony was held. Priests offered sacrifices of animals at the altar for the Lapis Nuiger at the time of the ceremony. The hearth was cleansed with the blood of the animal. It was thought that the hearth would provide fertility and protection for the grain fields.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented back to the year 202 BC.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were just a few examples of the most well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were initially held to honor Mars, the godof war.
Roman working weeks lasted for eight days. There were two sections to each day, the morning part as well as the evening. Nundin was an eight-day collection, with the rest of the year comprised of 29 days.
