Certain states celebrate the birthdays of both presidents on the same day, but others only honor only one president. However, Presidents’ Day is now widely recognized as a means of honoring all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
It has a long history. Washington’s Birthday was the first title of the holiday. It is now Presidents’ Day.
Washington’s birthday, also known by the title Washington’s Day was a well-known nonofficial holiday. In the 1870s, it was made a federal holiday. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was passed by Congress.
