The idea for this celebration came from a superstition that originated among Pennsylvanians from the Dutch. German immigrants brought the practice of making weather predictions into the United States. Punxsutawney Phil is a Pennsylvania groundhog who gives forecasts for the rest of winter.

Scientists discovered that a mouse hibernated in winter. The idea was to forecast the weather conditions for the remaining six weeks by observing how animals respond to it.

Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae which is a small group of mammals that have hair. It is hibernates in the winter. Groundhog Day is the most frequent day that they are seen looking out of their burrows.

Christmas Day

The third Monday in February is Presidents’ Daylight. It is recognized as a national holiday. It is a day to pay tribute to the past American presidents. Presidents’ Day is typically a day of celebration to honor Lincoln and Washington.

Even though it is an official holiday, several states do not observe it. Some states celebrate the birthdays of both presidents at the same time, whereas others only honor only one president. While Presidents’ Day is now common this holiday allows us to honor all U.S. presidents and especially Lincoln.

The origins of Presidents’ Day is complex. The Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the day’s celebration. Today the Presidents’ Day holiday is the official name.

The most well-known holiday in the United States was the birthday of Washington, which is often called Washington’s Day. In the 1870s, however, it became a federally recognized holiday. Congress passed the Uniform Monday holiday Act.

Meteor storms

Each year, the Earth’s orbit revolves around the sun. A torrent of small meteors explodes into space. In the sky, they can be seen all over the sky. Certain showers are more spectacular then others. It is generally the nighttime time to view.

Roman workweeks were 8 days long. There were two sections of each day, the morning part as well as the evening. The nundin lasted eight days. The rest of the year was made up by the remaining days.
