Commercial cards were introduced from the beginning of the 19th century. The popularity of postcards printed in bulk was also growing. These cards were also sought-after in shops because they could be displayed with themes.
Valentine’s Day is a tradition that usually includes a chocolate or candy gift along with a card and flowers. You might even choose to give them jewelry.

This celebration was born out of a belief in superstition that was prevalent among Pennsylvanians who spoke Dutch. The American tradition of creating weather forecasts was brought to America by German immigration. PunxsutawneyPhil is a Pennsylvania groundhog, makes meteorological predictions throughout the winter.
After scientists found out that mice hibernate in winter, they established the foundation for this custom. The plan was to forecast the next six weeks of winter by watching how animals responded to conditions.
Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae group of small hairy mammals. During the winter, its main purpose is to hibernate. Groundhog Day’s morning, they are often visible peeking out of burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents Daylight (third Monday of February) is a national holiday. It’s an honor to all previous American presidents. The Presidents’ Day holiday was usually a day dedicated to Lincoln and Washington.
While it’s an official holiday, several states do not observe it. Some states celebrate the birthdays of both presidents on the same day, but other states only recognize only one. While Presidents’ Day is now a common thing however, it is a good opportunity to remember all U.S. presidents and especially Lincoln.
It has had a complex story. Washington’s Birthday was originally the name of the celebration. The day is now known as Presidents’ Day.
The most well-known holiday in the United States was the birthday of President Washington, also called Washington’s Day. In the latter half of 1870s it was made a federal holiday. This led to Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
Storms of Meteors
Every year it is the time when the Earth is in orbit around the sun, which causes an explosion of tiny meteors to fall into space. They are visible all over the sky. Certain showers are more stunning than others. It is usually recommended to watch the showers at night.
One of the biggest and most spectacular meteor showers that occurs throughout the year is the Perseids. This is because Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was the primary cause. It’s visible only from the Northern Hemisphere. However, since the Southern Hemisphere has the highest fireball rates, it’s worth looking from there.
There are four meteor showers that dominate the sky every year. The Quadrantid is the most prominent due to its strong but brief maximum. The Lyrid Another one is famous for its unique surges. The Geminid is also famous for its friendly appearance.
Roman holidays in antiquity
The Lupercalia holiday was very loved in ancient Rome. The cleansing and fertility ceremony was held in the middle of February. In this ceremony the priests offered sacrifices of animals on the altar next to the Lapis Naiger. The hearth was then cleaned of blood from the animal. It was believed that the hearth could provide fertility and security for the fields of grain.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to pay tribute to Ceres (the harvest goddess). Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to 202 BC.
Vestalia, Saturnalia, and Neptunalia were among the popular Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally meant to pay tribute to Mars the god of war.
Roman workweeks had eight days. Each day had two parts: the morning or afternoon. The nundin was comprised of eight days. The remainder of the year was comprised by the remaining 29 days.
