Earnings Calendar March – Numerous fun holidays are planned in February and are all observed during the month. Presidents Day, Valentine’s Day, Groundhog Day and meteor showers are just a few. There are also a variety of old Roman celebrations that occur on different days.
February 14th
Valentine’s Day is a day dedicated to love and love that is observed every year on February 14. The holiday’s beginnings can be traced back to the Middle Ages, a time when sacraments and courtly love were all the rage.
It was thought to be the celebration of friendship between romantically engaged acquaintances from the 14th century. It was customary to send Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and gifts to each other.
The first decade of the 19th century saw the advent commercial cards. In addition, postcards printed in bulk gained popularity. Themed displays of these postcards were displayed in shops.
Valentine’s Day is traditionally marked by giving your loved one a gift of chocolate or candy, and flowers or a card. You could even decide to give them jewelry.
February 2nd.
Groundhog Day is observed annually on February 2. Even though it is popular in Canada the Thanksgiving holiday is an American holiday.
The celebration originated from superstition that was prevalent among Pennsylvanians who spoke Dutch. The practice of forecasting weather was introduced to America by German immigrants. Punxsutawney Phil is a Pennsylvania groundhog who makes forecasts for the remainder of winter.
The whole thing began when scientists discovered an animal that was hibernating during the winter. The goal was to predict the coming six weeks of the season by observing how the animals responded.
The Sciuridae family of small hairy mammals includes groundhogs. It hibernates during winter. Groundhog Day mornings are a great time to spot the animals peering out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents’ Daylight is regarded as an American holiday that falls on the third Monday of February. It is a tribute to the past presidents of America. Presidents’ Day has historically been a day to pay tribute to both Washington and Lincoln.
While it is a federal holiday however, many states do not observe it. Some states celebrate the birthdays of both presidents on the same day, whereas other states only recognize only one. The Presidents Day is now a day to honor all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
It has had a complex story. Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the celebration. Today, Presidents’ day is the official title.
An unofficial holiday that is well-known was the birthday of President Washington, also known as Washington’s Day. In the 1870s however it became an official holiday recognized by the federal government. Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Day Holiday Act.
Storms of Meteors
Each year each year, the Earth passes through its circle around the sun creating tiny meteors to be released into space. On the horizon, they are everywhere. Certain showers are more impressive than others. It is generally the nighttime time to watch.
One of the biggest and most magnificent meteor showers that occurs throughout the year is the Perseids. It is probable that Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle is responsible. It will be visible from Northern Hemisphere. But, since the Southern Hemisphere is home to some of the most spectacular fireballs, it makes sense to also observe the phenomenon from there.
Every year, there are four important meteor showers. One of the most well-known meteor showers is the Quadrantid. This one is known for its short but very powerful peak. Another notable for its unique surges is the Lyrid. The Geminid is also well-known for its warm appearance.
Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was a major celebration in the ancient city of Rome. The cleansing and fertility ceremony took place in the middle of February. Priests offered animal sacrifices on an altar close to the Lapis Niger during the rite. The hearth was cleansed with the blood of the animal. It was believed that it would benefit grains by ensuring their fertility and protecting the plants from harm.
Ludi Ceriales is another celebration which was celebrated to honor Ceres the harvest goddess. Since 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations were recorded.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were only a few of the most well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally held to honor Mars who was the god of war.
The Roman workweek was 8 days long. There were two sections to each day, the morning part as well as the evening. Nundin was a collection of eight days. The remaining 29 days made up the rest of the calendar year.
