February 14th
Valentine’s Day (February 14th) is a holiday to celebrate love and passion. It is celebrated each year. The Middle Ages are the time when Valentine’s Day first celebrated. This was the time when courtly love as well as ceremonies were still popular.
It was considered a celebration that honored love between romantic partners and close friends from the 14th century. Valentine’s Day was the day to give each other gifts, flowers and even cards.
By the beginning of the 19th century commercial cards had already been made. Postcards printed in bulk received a lot of attention. These cards were used to design themed displays in shops.
Giving your loved one an item of chocolate or candy, along with an arrangement or card is a typical Valentine’s Day tradition. It is also possible to present them with jewelry.

The tradition was born out of the belief in superstition of Pennsylvanians as well as Dutch people. But Americans inherited the tradition of making predictions about weather from German immigrants. PunxsutawneyPhil is a Pennsylvania groundhog who makes meteorological predictions all through winter.
After scientists found out that mice hibernate during winter, they laid the foundation for this custom. The plan was to forecast the following six weeks of the season by watching how the animals responded to the weather.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae family of tiny, hairy mammals. It hibernates in winter. In the early morning hours of Groundhog Day, they are often seen peeking out of their burrows.

Presidents’ Daylight is regarded as a national holiday on the third Monday of February. It’s an honor to all past American presidents. Presidents’ Day has traditionally been a time to celebrate both Washington and Lincoln.
It is a federal holiday that not all states observe, despite it being one. Certain states honor the presidents of both countries, while others only recognize one president. Presidents’ Day, however, is now generally considered to be a day to recognize all U.S. presidents, especially Lincoln.
There is a long and complicated story behind Presidents Day. Washington’s Birthday was the original name for the holiday. It is now called Presidents Day.
An unofficial holiday that is well-known was the birthday of President Washington, also referred to as Washington’s Day. In the 1870s, however it became a federally recognized holiday. This led to Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
Storms of meteors
Each year, Earth rotates around its sun. Small meteors are released into the atmosphere. They can be seen all over the sky. Some showers seem more impressive in comparison to others. The best time to view them is in the evening.
Perseids are among the most powerful and beautiful meteor showers of the year. It is because Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle caused it. It is visible from the Northern Hemisphere, but as the Southern Hemisphere has some of the most intense fireballs and astrophysical activity, it’s also worth to see from that region.
Each year there are four meteor showers that are significant. The Quadrantid Number one is renowned for its brief but powerful maximum. A different one that stands out for its distinctive surges is the Lyrid. The Geminid is famous for its sexy appearance.
Roman holidays in antiquity
The Lupercalia was an ancient Roman festival, which was loved by many. A cleansing and fertility ceremony was held in mid February. In the course of the ceremony, priests offered animal sacrifices on an altar in front of the Lapis Niiger. The hearth was then emptied of the blood of the animal. The fields of grain were believed to be protected and fertility.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration, was celebrated in honor of Ceres, the harvest goddess. Since the year 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations have been recorded.
Neptunalia was among the more popular Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally intended to honor Mars, the god war.
Roman workweeks had eight days. Every day consisted of two sections: morning and the afternoon. A nundin was an eight-day collection, the rest of the year comprised of 29 days.
