February 14th
Valentine’s Day celebrates love and passion on the 14th of February every year. The origins of the holiday can be traced back to the Middle Ages, a time where sacraments and courtly love were commonplace.
It was seen as a celebration that celebrated love between romantic partners and friends in the fourteenth century. It was customary to give Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and other gifts to one another.
The early nineteenth century saw the introduction of commercial cards. The popularity of these cards grew due to the increasing demand of printing postcards in large quantities. They were put up in stores as displays with themes.
Giving your loved one a chocolate or candy present and flowers or a card is a classic Valentine’s Day tradition. It is also possible to gift them with jewelry.

Groundhog Day falls on February 2. It’s also popular in Canada but it is American Thanksgiving.
The tradition was born out of superstition from Pennsylvanians and Dutch people. However, the practice of making predictions about weather conditions was introduced to the United States with German immigration. Punxsutawney Philip is a Pennsylvania groundhog, gives meteorological forecasts for the remainder of winter.
The whole thing began when researchers discovered a mouse that hibernated throughout the winter. The idea was to forecast the coming six weeks by studying how animals react to weather conditions.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae which is a tiny family of mammals that have hair. It hibernates in winter. The morning of Groundhog Day and evening, they’re often seen peeking out of the burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents Daylight (third Monday in February) is a national holiday. It pays tribute to past American presidents. Presidents’ Day has traditionally been a time to celebrate both Washington and Lincoln.
Although it is a federal holiday however, not all states observe the holiday in all states. Some states celebrate the birthdays of both presidents on the same day, whereas other states only recognize only one. While Presidents’ Day is now common, it allows us to remember all U.S. presidents and especially Lincoln.
It has had a complicated story. Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the day’s celebration. Today, Presidents’ day is the official title.
Washington’s birthday is a well-known and unofficial holidaythat is also known as Washington’s Day. However, in the 1870s it became a federally recognized holiday. In the aftermath, Congress passed Uniform Monday Holiday Law.
Meteors and storms
Each year, the Earth’s orbit rotates around the sun. A stream of tiny meteors are released into space. They can appear almost anywhere in the sky. Certain showers are more stunning than others. The best time for watching.
One of the biggest and most spectacular meteor showers that occurs throughout the year is the Perseids. It is because of Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle. It’s only visible from the Northern Hemisphere. However, because the Southern Hemisphere has the highest fireball rate, it’s worth taking a look from that.
There are four major meteor Showers every year. One of them is Quadrantid. Its short , but strong peak is the one that is the most well-known. Another one of the most famous for its bizarre spikes is the Lyrid. Furthermore the Geminid is famous for its sexy appearance.
Roman holidays in antiquity
The Lupercalia festival was extremely popular in ancient Rome. The cleansing and fertility ceremony took place in the middle of February. Priests offered sacrifices of animals near the altar of Lapis Negiger during this ritual. The blood of the animal was poured into the hearth. The belief was that this would benefit the grain crops by ensuring fertility and protecting the crops from damage.
Ludi Ceriales is another celebration which was celebrated to honor Ceres the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to the year 202 BC.
Neptunalia and Saturnalia were some other well-known Roman celebrations. The celebrations were originally intended to celebrate Mars the god of war.
The Roman week was eight days long. Each day consisted of two parts: morning or the afternoon. A nundin was eight days long, while the 29 remaining days were the rest.
