This custom was born from a discovery by scientists that a mouse hibernated in winter. The initial plan was to predict the duration of each season by studying how animals responded to the conditions.
Groundhogs are part of Sciuridae, a small family of mammals that have hair. It is hibernates through the winter months. Groundhog Day’s morning and evening, they’re often observed peeking out of burrows.

The Presidents’ Day holiday is now widely recognized as a day to honor the achievements of all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
There is a complicated history behind Presidents Day. The Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the celebration. Today, Presidents’ day is the official name.
