February 14th
Valentine’s Day (February 14th) is a holiday to celebrate love and passion. It is celebrated each year. The holiday’s beginnings can be traced back to the Middle Ages, a time where courtly love and sacraments were all the rage.
It was seen as a celebration that celebrated romance between romantic partners and friends in the 14th century. It was customary to give Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and gifts to one another.
Commercial cards were introduced from the beginning of the 19th century. The demand for bulk-printed postcards. They were utilized to create themed displays in stores.
Valentine’s Day traditions include buying your beloved a chocolate or chocolate present along with a flower or card. It is also possible to present jewelry.

Groundhog Day falls on February 2. It is also celebrated in Canada however it’s American Thanksgiving.
This celebration was born out an ancient belief that originated among Pennsylvanians from the Dutch. However, Americans gained the tradition of making predictions about weather through German immigrants. Punxsutawney Philip, a Pennsylvania groundhog, offers meteorological forecasts throughout the rest of winter.
When researchers discovered that mice hibernate in winter, they established the foundation for this custom. The original plan was to forecast six weeks of the seasons by watching how animals responded to climate.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae which is a tiny family of mammals that have hair. It is hibernates through the winter months. Groundhog Day is the most regular day they can be in view from their burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday of February President’s Daylight is recognized as a national holiday. It’s a tribute to all past American presidents. The Presidents’ Day was traditionally a day to honor Lincoln as well as Washington.
It’s a national holiday which not all states observe despite being one. Some states celebrate both presidents simultaneously, whereas some only honor one president. Presidents Day has become a day to honor the all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
The origins of Presidents’ Day is a bit tangled. Washington’s Birthday used to be the name used for the celebration. Now, it is called Presidents Day.
Washington’s birthday, also known by the title Washington’s Day was a well-known non-official holiday. In the late 1870s, it was made a federal holiday. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was approved by Congress.
Meteors and storms
Every year each year, the Earth is orbiting in the solar system. This causes a flood of small meteors that are released into space. They can be seen everywhere in the sky. Certain showers are more spectacular then others. It is usually best to view the showers in the evening.
One of the biggest and most stunning meteor showers that occurs throughout the year is the Perseids. It is likely that Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle is the cause. It will be visible from the Northern Hemisphere, but as the Southern Hemisphere has some of the most intense fireballs, it is also worthwhile to see from that region.
Every year there are four important meteor showers. The Quadrantid is the first, and is famous for its short but potent maximum. Another one is the Lyrid. It’s famous for the odd surges it produces. Geminids are a Geminid is well-known for being approachable.
Roman holidays dating to antiquity
The Lupercalia was a Roman festival, which was loved by many. A fertility and cleansing ceremony was held in February. Priests offered animal sacrifices at an altar near the Lapis Niger during the ritual. The hearth was saturated with blood of the animal. It was believed that it would be beneficial to the grain crops by ensuring fertility and protecting the crops from damage.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Since the year 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations were recorded.
Vestalia, Saturnalia, and Neptunalia were three other well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally held to honor Mars the god of war.
Roman workweeks were eight days long. There were two parts to every day, the morning and the afternoon. A nundin was a collection consisting of 8 days. The remaining 29 days comprised the rest of the calendar year.
