When researchers discovered that mice hibernated in winter, they set the stage for this habit. The plan was to forecast the next six weeks of the season by studying how animals reacted to the weather.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae group of hairy mammals. During the winter, its principal purpose is to hibernate. Groundhog Day mornings are a perfect time to see the animals peering out of their burrows.

Presidents Daylight that falls on the third Monday in February, is considered to be to be a national holiday. It honors previous American presidents. The Presidents Day holiday has been a day of honor for both Lincoln and Washington.
Although it’s an official holiday, not all states observe this day. Some states celebrate both the birthdays of presidents on the day, while some states might only celebrate only one. The Presidents Day holiday is a day to honor the all U.S. presidents, including Lincoln.
Presidents Day has a complicated past. The Washington’s Birthday was the initial title of the holiday, which is now known as Presidents’ Day.
A well-known unofficial holiday was the birthday of President Washington, also called Washington’s Day. It was made an official holiday of the United States in the late 1870s. Congress approved the Uniform Monday holiday Act.
Meteor storms
Every year, the Earth revolves in the solar system. This causes a flood of tiny meteors which are released into space. They can appear anywhere in the sky. Some showers are more spectacular than others. It is at night that is the most ideal time of day to observe.
One of the largest and most stunning meteor showers that occurs throughout the year is the Perseids. This is due to the fact that Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle caused it. While it will be visible in the Northern Hemisphere because of its large number of fireballs however, the Southern Hemisphere also has the most visibility.
There are four major meteor showers every year. One of the most well-known meteor showers is called the Quadrantid. This shower is known for its brief but extremely powerful peak. Another one is the Lyrid. It is famous for its irregular surges. The Geminid is also known for its approachable appearance.
Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was a popular festival in ancient Rome. A cleansing and fertility ceremony was performed in February. In the course of the ceremony, priests offered sacrifices of animals to an altar close to the Lapis Niiger. The hearth was filled with the animal’s blood. It was thought that the hearth would offer fertility and security for the grain fields.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration to pay tribute to Ceres (the goddess of the harvest). Ludi Ceriales celebrations can be traced back to the year 202 BC.
Neptunalia as well as Saturnalia were two other well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally planned to pay tribute to Mars and the god of war.
