Washington’s birthday, also known as Washington’s Day was a well-known nonofficial holiday. However, it was recognized as a national holiday in the late 1870s. Congress adopted the Uniform Monday holiday Act.
Storms of Meteors

Other popular Roman festivities are Neptunalia, Saturnalia and Vestalia. These celebrations were originally planned to pay tribute to Mars as the god of war.
