March Gardening Calendar – Many enjoyable holidays are planned for February, and they are all observed during the month. Some of the most celebrated celebrations are President’s Day. Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day and meteor Showers. Numerous ancient Roman celebrations also take place on various days.
February 14th
Valentine’s Day celebrates love and passion on the 14th of February every year. The holiday’s beginnings can be traced back to the Middle Ages, a time when sacraments and courtly love were all the rage.
It was considered to be an occasion to celebrate the love between romantic partners as well as friends during the 14th century. It was commonplace to send Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and gifts to one another.
The early nineteenth century saw the advent commercial cards. The popularity of postcards that were printed in bulk was also increasing. These cards were a hit in retail stores as displays with themes.
Valentine’s Day is a tradition that usually includes a chocolate or candy gift along with an arrangement of flowers and a card. It is also possible to gift jewelry.

Groundhog Day is observed annually on February 2. It’s also a well-known holiday in Canada, but Thanksgiving is an American holiday celebrated in the United States.
The tradition was born out of superstition from Pennsylvanians as well as Dutch people. The practice of forecasting weather was introduced to the United States through German immigrants. Punxsutawney Phil is a Pennsylvania groundhog who makes forecasts for the rest of winter.
Researchers discovered that mice hibernated in winter. The goal was to forecast the weather for the remaining six weeks by observing how animals respond to it.
Groundhogs form part of the Sciuridae family of small hairy mammals. It is hibernates in the winter months. Groundhog Day is the most regular day they can be in view from their burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday of February the President’s Daylight is declared an American holiday. It celebrates the former American presidents. Presidents’ Day has historically served as a day to honor both Washington and Lincoln.
Despite being an official holiday of the United States, not all states observe the holiday in all states. Some states celebrate both the birthdays of presidents on the exact day, while some states only honor only one. The Presidents’ Day holiday is widely recognized as an opportunity to recognize the achievements of all U.S. presidentials, particularly Lincoln.
The story of Presidents’ Day is a bit tangled. The Washington’s Birthday was the first name of the celebration and is now known as Presidents Day.
Washington’s Birthday, also known as Washington’s Day, is an not a holiday recognized by the government but is widely known. In the 1870s however, it became a federally recognized holiday. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was approved by Congress.
Meteors and storms
Every year it is the time when the Earth passes through its circle around the sun creating an explosion of tiny meteors to be released into space. They are visible in the sky and are everywhere. Some showers appear more impressive than other. It is usually the nighttime moment to view.
Perseids is one of most beautiful and impressive meteor showers of 2018. It is because Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle created it. While it will be visible in the Northern Hemisphere because of its high rate of fireworks however, the Southern Hemisphere also has the best visibility.
There are four major meteor showers every year. The Quadrantid one is well-known for its potent but short peak. A different one that stands out for its distinctive surges is The Lyrid. A Geminid is well-known for its approachable.
Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was a popular festival in ancient Rome. In the middle of February the fertility and cleansing ceremony was conducted. During the ceremony, priests offered animal sacrifices on an altar near the Lapis Niiger. Blood from the animal was poured in the hearth. The belief was that it would be beneficial for the fertility of the grain fields.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was held in honour of Ceres the goddess of harvest. Ludi Ceriales celebrations date back to the year 202 BC.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were only a few of the well-known Roman celebrations. The celebrations were initially planned to pay tribute to Mars as the god of war.
Roman workweeks lasted eight days. Each day had two parts: morning or afternoon. Nundin was a collection that comprised of 8 days. The remaining 29 days comprised the rest of the calendar year.
