February 14th
Valentine’s Day is an annual holiday that celebrates love, affection and celebration on February 14. The Middle Ages are the time that Valentine’s Day was first observed. It was a period when courtly love and sacraments were still common.
It was a day to celebrate romance between lovers during the 14th century. On Valentine’s Day, it was customary to send flowers, cards and presents to each other.
The beginning of the nineteenth century saw the introduction commercial cards. Postcards that were printed in bulk gained popularity. They were also very popular in shops as they were able to be displayed with themed designs.
Valentine’s Day is traditionally marked by giving your loved ones a gift of chocolate or candy, and a card or flower. It is possible to also give jewelry.

Groundhog Day falls on February 2. Groundhog Day is observed every year in Canada on February 2.
The celebration originated from superstition in the minds of Pennsylvanians who spoke Dutch. However, Americans gained the tradition of making weather predictions from German immigrants. PunxsutawneyPhil is a Pennsylvania groundhog, makes meteorological predictions for all of the winter.
It all started when researchers discovered mice that were hibernating throughout the winter. The aim was to predict the weather for the six remaining weeks by observing how animals respond to it.
Groundhogs belong to of the Sciuridae family of tiny, hairy mammals. It hibernates throughout winter. Groundhog Day is the most common day they can be seen looking out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
Presidents’ Daylight is regarded as a national holiday on the third Monday of February. The holiday honors the previous American presidents. It is a day to honour both Lincoln and Washington.
Despite being a federal holiday but not every state observes it. Certain states honor both presidents, while others are only allowed to recognize one president. Although Presidents’ day is now common this holiday allows us to remember the names of all U.S. presidents and especially Lincoln.
There’s a rich history that explains Presidents Day. Washington’s Birthday was the first name given to the holiday. Now, it is known as Presidents Day.
A well-known unofficial holiday was the birthday of Washington, which is often referred to as Washington’s Day. However, in the 1870s it was declared a federally recognized holiday. Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Day Holiday Act.
Meteors and storms
Each year, Earth moves around the sun. Every year, tiny meteors are released into space. They appear virtually everywhere in the skies. Some showers appear more impressive in comparison to others. The best moment to see them.
Perseids are among the most spectacular and stunning meteor showers of the entire year. This is due to the fact that Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was the cause of it. It will be visible from Northern Hemisphere. But, considering that the Southern Hemisphere is home to some of the most spectacular fireballs, it makes sense to also look at the phenomenon from the Southern Hemisphere.
There are four major meteor showers each year. The first is Quadrantid. Its short , but strong peak is the one that is the most well-known. Another is the Lyrid. It’s known for its irregular surges. The Geminid is also famous for its friendly appearance.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia is among the most popular holidays in the ancient city of Rome. A ritual of cleansing and fertility took place in the middle of February. Priests offered animal sacrifices at an altar next to the Lapis Niger during the ritual. The hearth was filled up with the animal’s blood. The fields of grain were believed to be protected and fertility.
Ludi Ceriales is another celebration that was held in honor Ceres the goddess of harvest. Ludi Ceriales celebrations date back to 202 BC.
Other famous Roman festivities are Neptunalia, Saturnalia and Vestalia. These celebrations were originally intended to honor Mars as the god of war.
Roman workweeks were eight days long. Each day had two parts: the morning and the afternoon. The nundin was eight days long. The 29 days remaining were the remainder.
