Neptunalia was among the most popular Roman festivities. These were originally celebrated in honor of Mars, a god of war.

Roman workweeks were eight days long. There were two phases to every day: the morning and the afternoon. The nundin lasted 8 days. The remainder of the year was made up by the remaining days.
