Presidents Day has a complicated past. Washington’s Birthday was originally the name of the event. It is now Presidents’ Day.

An unofficial holiday that is well-known was the birthday of Washington, which is often called Washington’s Day. It was recognized as an official holiday of the United States Congress in the late 1870s. Congress approved the Uniform Monday holiday Act.

Meteors and storms

Roman holidays from antiquity

The Lupercalia was a well-known festival in ancient Rome. The month of February was when a fertility-cleansing ceremony was performed. During the ceremony, priests offered sacrifices of animals to an altar close to the Lapis Niiger. The hearth was cleansed with the blood of the animal. The grain fields were thought to be protected and fertility.

Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was dedicated to Ceres. Since the year 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations were recorded.

Neptunalia and Saturnalia were some other well-known Roman festivals. These celebrations were originally planned to honor Mars and the god of war.

Roman workweeks ran for eight days. There were two parts of each day, the morning as well as the evening. A nundin was eight days long, while the 29 remaining days were the remainder.
