It was believed to be a day of celebration which honored love between romantic partners and close friends during the 14th century. It was common to send Valentine’s Day flowers, cards and other gifts to one another.
In the early 19th century commercial cards were made readily available. The demand for postcards that were printed in bulk was also increasing. These themed displays were displayed in shops.
Valentine’s Day is an old custom. You can buy your beloved an edible chocolate or candy gift along with an arrangement of flowers or even a card. You might also consider giving them jewelry.

Groundhog Day is celebrated annually on February 2. It’s also a popular holiday in Canada however it’s American Thanksgiving.
The idea for this celebration came from a superstition that originated among Pennsylvanians who were Dutch. Scientists have discovered that mice was able to hibernate during winter. The idea was to forecast the coming six weeks by studying the way animals react to weather conditions.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae Family of small hairy mammals. They hibernate during the winter. Groundhog Day mornings are a excellent time to observe them peering from their burrows.

The third Monday in February is known as Presidents’ Daylight. It is considered a national holiday. It is a way to honor the previous presidents of America. It is a day which honors the two presidents, Lincoln, Washington, and it has been Presidents Day since the beginning of its existence.
Although it is a federal holiday but not every state observes the holiday in all states. While some states recognize both presidents birthdays on the same day as others, other states only recognize only one. The Presidents’ Day holiday is widely recognized as an opportunity to recognize all U.S. presidentials, particularly Lincoln.
The history of Presidents’ Day is complex. Washington’s Birthday was the original name for the celebration. Today, it’s also known as Presidents Day.
Washington’s birthday, also called Washington’s Day is a well-known not-official holiday. But it became a recognized as a federal holiday in the 1870s. In the end, Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.

Roman holidays in antiquity
The Lupercalia was a popular celebration in the ancient city of Rome. A fertility and cleansing ceremony took place in the middle of February. During this rite the priests offered sacrifices of animals on the altar alongside the Lapis Naiger. The blood of the animal was poured into the hearth. It was believed that it would benefit the grain crops by ensuring fertility and protecting the plants from harm.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was held to honor of Ceres the goddess of harvest. Ludi Ceriales celebrations date back to the year 202 BC.
Other famous Roman celebrations include Neptunalia, Saturnalia and Vestalia. They were celebrated originally in honor of Mars who was the god of war.
Roman workweeks lasted eight days. There were two periods to every day: the morning and the afternoon. Nundin was an eight-day collection, with the remainder of the year being comprised of 29 days.
