February 14th
Valentine’s Day is a day dedicated to love and passion that is observed every year on February 14. The origins of the holiday can be traced to the Middle Ages, a time where courtly love and sacraments were commonplace.
It was believed to be an occasion to celebrate friendship between romantically engaged people from the fourteenth century. Valentine’s Day was a day when it was customary for friends and lovers to send gifts, flowers and cards.
In the beginning of the 19th century commercial cards became accessible. Also, postcards that were produced in large quantities gained a lot of popularity. These postcards were also sought-after in shops because they could be displayed with themes.
Valentine’s Day is a tradition which includes an assortment of candy or chocolate gifts, as well a card and flowers. You could also choose to give them a gift of jewellery.

Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae, a small family of hairy mammals. They hibernate during winter. In the early morning hours of Groundhog Day, they are frequently spotted peering out from their burrows.

On the third Monday in February, President’s Daylight is declared an official holiday of the United States. It is a day to pay tribute to the past American presidents. Presidents’ Day has traditionally been a time to honor both Washington and Lincoln.
While it is a federal holiday , not all states observe it. Certain states observe both birthdays of the presidents on the exact same day . Other states might only celebrate only one. Although Presidents’ day is now common however, it is a good opportunity to commemorate all U.S. presidents and especially Lincoln.
It has had a complex history. Washington’s Birthday was the original title of the holiday. It is now Presidents’ Day.

Meteor storms
Every year, Earth rotates around its sun. Small meteors are released into the atmosphere. They appear in any part of the sky. Some showers are more stunning than others. It is usually recommended to watch the showers at night.
Perseids is one of most beautiful and impressive meteor showers of the year 2018. This is because Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle caused it. Although it is visible in the Northern Hemisphere because of its massive fireworks however, the Southern Hemisphere also has the highest visibility.
Every year, there are four significant meteor showers. The first is Quadrantid. Its short but strong peak is the one that is most famous. The other is the Lyrid that is renowned for its unique surges. The Geminid is known for its sexy appearance.
Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was a major holiday in ancient Rome. In February, in the middle, a fertility and cleansing ceremony was held. During the ceremony, priests offered sacrifices of animals to an altar near the Lapis Niiger. The hearth was stuffed with the blood of the animal. It was believed that the hearth could provide fertility and security for the grain fields.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was held in honour of Ceres, the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations were first documented in 202 BC.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were just a few examples of the most well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were originally meant to celebrate Mars the god of War.
Roman workweeks were 8 days long. Each day consisted of two parts: morning and afternoon. A nundin was a collection of eight days. The remaining 29 days comprised the remainder of the calendar year.
