Although it’s a national holiday however, many states do not observe it. Some states celebrate both presidents simultaneously, whereas some only honor one president. The Presidents’ Day holiday is widely regarded as a day to honor all U.S. presidentials, particularly Lincoln.

The background of Presidents’ Day is complicated. Washington’s Birthday was the first reason for the name of this celebration.

A well-known unofficial holiday was the birthday of President Washington, also referred to as Washington’s Day. However, in the 1870s, it became a federally recognized holiday. In response, Congress passed Uniform Monday Holiday Law.

Meteor storms

Every year, the Earth passes through its circle around the sun causing an explosion of tiny meteors to be released into space. They are visible everywhere in the sky. Some showers are more impressive than others. It is usually recommended to watch the showers at night.

Each year there are four meteor showers that are significant. One of the most famous meteor showers is the Quadrantid. It is known for its short but very powerful peak. Another one is the Lyrid that is renowned for its unusual surges. In addition, the Geminid is renowned for its attractive appearance.

Roman holidays in antiquity

The Lupercalia was among the most popular holidays of ancient Rome. In February, a fertility-cleansing ceremony was performed. The priests offered animal sacrifices on an altar near the Lapis Niiger. The hearth was emptied of the animal’s blood. It was believed to be beneficial to the fertility and protection of the fields of grain.

Ludi Ceriales was another celebration in honor Ceres, the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations date back to the year 202 BC.

Neptunalia was one of the most well-known Roman celebrations. These celebrations were initially intended to honor Mars the god of war.

Roman workweeks took eight days. There were two parts to every day: morning and afternoon. The nundin was comprised of 8 days. The remainder of the year was constituted by the remaining days.
