Groundhogs are part of the Sciuridae which is a small group of mammals that have hair. They are winter animals and their main purpose is to go into hibernation. Groundhog Day mornings are a great time to spot the animals peering out of their burrows.

Presidents’ Daylight is regarded as a national holiday on the third Monday in February. The holiday honors past American presidents. It is a day that celebrates the two presidents, Lincoln, Washington, and has been Presidents’ Day since its inception.
Although it is a federal holiday not all states observe it. Some states recognize the presidents of both countries, while others are only allowed to recognize one president. But Presidents’ Day is widely recognized as an opportunity to recognize the achievements of all U.S. presidentials, particularly Lincoln.
The origins of the Presidents’ Day holiday is complicated. Washington’s Birthday was the original name for the day of celebration. Today, it’s called Presidents Day.
Washington’s birthday, more commonly called Washington’s Day is a well-known non-official holiday. In the 1870s, however it was declared a federally recognized holiday. In response, Congress passed Uniform Monday Holiday Law.
Meteor storms
Each year, the Earth’s orbit rotates around sun. A stream of tiny meteors is released into space. They are visible from all directions. Certain showers are more spectacular than others. Nighttime is often the best time to watch.
The Perseids meteor shower is one of the most impressive and largest of all the meteor showers. This is due to the fact that Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was the cause of it. But, since the Southern Hemisphere is home to some of the most stunning fireballs, it makes sense to also look at the phenomenon from the Southern Hemisphere.
Every year, there are four important meteor showers. The Quadrantid is the most prominent due to its strong but brief peak. The Lyrid Another one is known for its distinctive surges. The Geminid is also famous for its friendly appearance.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia festival was extremely popular in ancient Rome. In February, in the middle, a fertility and cleansing ceremony was conducted. During this rite, priests offered animal sacrifices on the altar next to the Lapis Naiger. Blood from the animal was poured in the hearth. The fields of grain were believed to be protected and fertility.
Ludi Ceriales was another celebration in honor of Ceres the goddess of harvest. Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented as far back as the year 202 BC.
Neptunalia was one of the most well-known Roman festivities. These celebrations were initially held in honor of Mars the god of war.
Roman working weeks were eight days long. There were two phases to each day, the morning and the afternoon. Nundin was an 8-day collection, the rest of the year made up of 29 days.
