This custom was born out of the discovery of scientists by discovering that a mouse hibernated during winter. The original plan was to predict six weeks of the seasons by watching how animals reacted to the conditions.
Groundhogs belong to the Sciuridae which is a tiny family of mammals with hairy fur. They are winter animals and their primary job is to stay in hibernation. Groundhog Day is a common day on which they are observed peering out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
The third Monday in February is known as Presidents’ Daylight. It is considered a national holiday. It is an honor to all past American presidents. It is a day which honors the two presidents, Lincoln, Washington, and has been Presidents Day since the beginning of its existence.
Although it is an official holiday of the United States, not all states observe it. Some states celebrate the birthdays of both presidents at the same time, while some states only recognize only one president. However, Presidents’ Day is now widely accepted as a means of honoring all U.S. Presidents, especially Lincoln.
The story of Presidents’ Day is a bit tangled. Washington’s Birthday was the first name of the celebration. Today the Presidents’ Day holiday is the official name.
Washington’s birthday is an incredibly well-known and unofficial holidaythat is also known as Washington’s Day. However, it was recognized as a federal holiday in the late 1870s. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act was passed by Congress.
Meteor storms
Each year, Earth moves around the sun. Each year, small meteors fall into space. They are visible all over the sky. Certain showers are more spectacular than others. The best time to watch.
Perseids is among the most stunning and spectacular meteor showers in 2018. It is because of Comet 109P/Swift Tuttle. It is visible from the Northern Hemisphere. But, because the Southern Hemisphere is home to some of the most stunning fireworks, it is only natural to look at the phenomenon from the Southern Hemisphere.
Four significant meteor showers occur each year. The Quadrantid, number one, is famous for its short but potent maximum. Another one of the most famous for its bizarre spikes is the Lyrid. The Geminid is also renowned for its approachable appearance.
Roman holidays from antiquity
The Lupercalia was an ancient Roman holiday that was loved by many. In February, a fertility-cleansing ceremony was conducted. Priests offered animal sacrifices at an altar close to the Lapis Niger in the ceremony. Blood from the animal was poured in the hearth. It was believed to be beneficial to the fertility of the fields of grain.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration was held in honour of Ceres the goddess of harvest. Since the year 202 BC, Ludi Ceriales celebrations are documented.
Neptunalia, Saturnalia, Vestalia were only a few of the well-known Roman celebrations. The celebrations were initially planned to celebrate Mars, the god war.
Roman workweeks were 8 days long. Every day was divided into two parts: the morning or the afternoon. A nundin was a collection of eight days, while the other 29 days made up the remainder of the year.
