25 March 2023 Calendar – There are a variety of holiday celebrations that take place in February. Some examples of these holidays include Valentine’s Day or Groundhog Day Presidents Day, Groundhog Day or meteor showers. Numerous ancient Roman celebrations also take place on different days.
February 14th
Valentine’s Day celebrates love and passion on the 14th of February every year. The Middle Ages are the time when Valentine’s Day was first celebrated. This is a time when courtly love as well as sacraments were still common.
It was believed to be a celebration of love between romantically involved people from the fourteenth century. In the 14th century, on Valentine’s Day, it was customary to send flowers, cards and presents to each other.
Commercial cards were available from the beginning of the 19th century. The demand for postcards that were printed in bulk also grew. They were popular in retail stores as displays of themed designs.
Valentine’s Day is traditionally marked by giving your loved ones the gift of chocolate or candy, along with an arrangement or card. You can also present them with jewelry.

Groundhog Day falls on February 2. Even though it’s a big deal in Canada, Thanksgiving is a American holiday.
The tradition was born out of beliefs that were derived from Pennsylvanians and Dutch people. The American custom of making weather forecasts was brought to America by German immigrants. PunxsutawneyPhil is a Pennsylvania groundhog that makes forecasts for winter weather throughout the year.
The story began when researchers discovered mice that were hibernating throughout the winter. The initial idea was to predict six weeks of the seasons by observing how animals reacted to the weather.
Groundhogs are part of Sciuridae which is a tiny family of hairy mammals. They hibernate throughout the winter months. Groundhog Day is a common day on which they are observed peering out of their burrows.
Christmas Day
On the third Monday in February the President’s Daylight is declared an American holiday. It celebrates the former American presidents. Presidents’ Day has historically served as a day to celebrate both Washington and Lincoln.
Although it’s a federal holiday some states do not observe it. Some states celebrate both the birthdays of presidents on the day, while some states may only recognize one. But Presidents’ Day is widely regarded as a time to celebrate all U.S. presidentials, particularly Lincoln.
There’s a rich history of Presidents Day. The Washington’s Birthday was the first title of the holiday, which is now known as Presidents Day.
An unofficial holiday that is well-known was the birthday of Washington, which is often referred to as Washington’s Day. In the 1870s however it was declared a federally recognized holiday. Congress adopted the Uniform Monday Day Holiday Act.
Storms of Meteors
Every year, the Earth’s orbit revolves around sun. A torrent of small meteors are released into space. They may appear everywhere. Some showers can be more striking than others. Nighttime is often the best moment to view.
Perseids is one of most spectacular and stunning meteor showers in 2018. This is because the comet 109P/Swift Tuttle was responsible. Although it is visible in the Northern Hemisphere because of its large number of fireworks however, the Southern Hemisphere also has the best visibility.
Four significant meteor showers occur every year. The Quadrantid is the most prominent due to its power but short maximum. Another one is the Lyrid. It is famous for its odd surges. In addition the Geminid is renowned for its sexy appearance.
Roman holiday celebrations in antiquity
The Lupercalia is one of the most popular holidays in the ancient city of Rome. A fertility and cleansing ceremony was observed in February. Priests offered sacrifices of animals at the altar for the Lapis Nuiger at the time of the ceremony. The animal’s blood was dumped in the hearth. The protection and fertility of the blood is believed to have been beneficial to the grain field.
Ludi Ceriales, another celebration, was celebrated in honor of Ceres, the harvest goddess. Ludi Ceriales celebrations were first recorded in 202 BC.
Neptunalia was among the most popular Roman celebrations. The celebrations were initially planned to pay tribute to Mars, the god war.
Roman workweeks ran for eight days. There were two parts of every day: morning and afternoon. A nundin was 8 days long, while the 29 remaining days were the remainder.
